From the pretty granite village of Tence, a green vacation resort on the banks of the Lignon, you’ll head for Le Mazet-Saint-Voy. From the rather Catholic lands of Tence, crossed by the pilgrimage routes of St-Jacques and St-Régis, you’ll reach the high plateaus known for the rise of the Reformed religion. Here, in winter, the burle reigns supreme in snowy weather. Admire the Irish-style moors, with the Pic du Lizieux, Mont Mézenc and Sucs du Meygal peeking out over the horizon. The beautiful village of Saint-Julien Chapteuil is a good place to stop for a visit to the church, located on the route to Santiago de Compostela. Numerous natural sites invite you to stop off: the blue lake, the pretty village of Queyrières with its basalt organs, the panorama from Suchaillou, the troglodyte village of Couteaux, etc. Pass through the small town of Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, famous for its abbey church and its Brass Festival. On the return journey, the plateau landscapes reveal themselves near Saint-Front, Fay-sur-Lignon, Les Vastres and finally Le Chambon-sur-Lignon.
