Fin gras du Mézenc

“Le Fin Gras du Mézenc, on en fait tout le foin!”

Fin Gras du Mézenc is a marbled beef recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin. The cattle and heifers are raised on hay and grass on the Mezenc terroir.

Marbled beef...

In summer, the animals are raised on pasture at altitudes of over 1,000 metres. In winter, they are stabled and fed hay from natural meadows. There are around a hundred breeders in the Massif du Mézenc, straddling the Haute-Loire and Ardèche. On the Haut-Lignon, the village of Mazet-Saint-Voy is part of the PDO. Marketed from February to June, discover the incredible taste and quality of this beef in restaurants and traditional butchers.

Fin Gras Festival

 1st weekend in June

Every year since 1996, the Mezenc plateau has celebrated Fin Gras on the 1st weekend of June, one year in an Ardèche village, the next in an Allier village. Farmers’ markets, animal parades, musical entertainment, games, a hay pool, meetings with farm animals and a Fin Gras meal are all on the program for this festive day.

Please note: This year’s Fin Gras festival will take place on June 8, 2025 in the commune of Cros de Géorand (07630).
