Marie-Laure DEMUTRECY, the potter

Marie-Laure will introduce you to a poetic world combined with the gentleness of the earth element, in her studio in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon.

From Normandy to Auvergne

Originally from Normandy, Marie-Laure Demutrécy spent a long time vacationing in the Haute-Loire, and one day, she didn’t leave… and settled here, in the village of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon.

She began learning her trade over 15 years ago, after walking through the door of a workshop in her native region. After 10 years with her apprenticeship masters, she decided to take flight.

She uses simple shapes to create useful, durable objects. Inspired by nature, each piece is shaped by hand. The decorations are imprinted with materials gleaned here and there: pine cones, bark, flowers… After firing, these unique objects, imbued with poetry, emerge from the kiln.

Stores and Markets

Marie Laure has settled in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, and is keen to liven up her village, where she has opened a store, but her pottery can also be found in neighboring villages such as Le Mazet and Fay-sur-Lignon.

As a member of the “Terre et potiers d’Auvergne” association, Marie Laure is present at many creative markets and in many local stores: the Halle Fermière in Le Mazet-Saint-Voy, and the boutique des créateurs in Fay-sur-Lignon.

Whether you’re looking for tableware or decorative items, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for among her useful and poetic creations: jugs, mugs, vases, cups, dishes, oil dishes, plates, soap dishes, photophores…
