Ciné-Fête, a committed festival

Ciné-fête, a committed Festival, or how to start with resistance and work towards dialogue.

Ciné-Fête

Every summer in July, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon hosts a film festival showcasing all forms of resistance. Women’s perspectives, resistance in war-torn countries, people in dramatic or inextricable situations, documentaries and fiction films in VO are all on offer, in keeping with local history. Debates with speakers from the world of cinema, films for young audiences and festive events are organized throughout the week. The festival is punctuated by memorable encounters with Jean-Louis Trintignant, a retrospective of films by Agnès Varda, a tribute to Joséphine Baker, theater and readings.

 Readings,

“Je suis été” by Catherine Monin Editions Quartett, June 2024.

“I’m leaning yes. I could tumble at any moment, yes, with all my being, yes. But I’m holding on, on the ridges I’m holding on. I’m at the peak of age, on the peak of the circumflex, at the very top. I don’t have life ahead of me see, but all around… There’s only a little room at the top. No sooner do you stumble there than you can break a pass, no sooner do you dance there than the air runs out, no sooner an echo than you’re off in an avalanche.”
